Background

The National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA), an unincorporated division of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), is organized and dedicated to better serve our customers and members with state-of-the-art design and construction of steel bridges. We are a unified industry organization of businesses and agencies interested in the development, promotion and construction of cost-effective steel bridges.

The mission of NSBA is to establish steel as the preferred material for bridges.

The organization’s primary objective is to increase steel’s share of the bridge market.

NSBA’s goal is grow market share of steel bridges by two percent annually over the years 2006 and 2007.

NSBA is a non-profit alliance of companies and individuals who are dedicated to developing and promoting the best in steel bridge design and construction.  The national organization is a unified voice representing the steel bridge industry.

An Executive Council, having equal representation from both steel bridge fabrication and steel-producing companies, has the sole responsibility for directing, approving and funding of the activities of the alliance.

Reporting to the executive council is the Executive Director of the NSBA who will manage the day-to-day activities of the professional staff including administrative, field, and technical groups.

In addition to steel fabricators and producers, NSBA brings together all the agencies and groups who have a stake in steel bridge construction to serve in an advisory capacity. Included in this group are representatives from AASHTO, FHWA, DOTs, bridge consultants, erectors, and people representing the paint, fastener, and welding industries.

The Regional Directors are the primary liaisons between the NSBA and bridge owners. They assist fabricators, designers and owners alike in making the best bridge design selections possible.
