Conn Abnee
Executive Director, National Steel Bridge Alliance

The NSBA named Conn Abnee Executive Director on December 1, 2002, replacing Arun Shirole, P.E., who served since 1995 at the founding of the alliance. Abnee is an expert in political affairs, marketing and association management. He has experience as a construction manager for numerous industrial, commercial and electrical-generating facilities.

Prior to joining the NSBA, Abnee served as executive director of the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium (GPHC), and is a past Chairman of its Board of Directors. During Abnee’s tenure with GHPC, geothermal heat pump technology utilization grew 30% annually throughout the country.

 He has also served as chairman of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association and the Kentucky Committee for Marketing Electricity.  Previously he was the Marketing and Advertising Manager for the East Kentucky Power Cooperative.

A native Kentuckian, Mr. Abnee has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky.



Calvin Schrage
Regional Director, National Steel Bridge Alliance

Calvin Schrage is Regional Director for the Midwest and Western Regions for the National Steel Bridge Alliance. In this position, Schrage serves as a primary liaison between the NSBA and the steel bridge community. He assists fabricators, designers, consultants, and owners in achieving optimum bridge design selections.

Previously, Schrage spent 18 years with Lincoln Steel Company, a steel bridge fabricator in Lincoln, NE., in estimating and sales. He also has held positions of responsibility with Apollo Steel Company, a commercial steel fabricator, and Concrete Industries, a precaster.
